Menas VietNam strategic cooperation with Mefast

Ho Chi Minh City, February 6, 2025 – Recently, following the suggestion of Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Lê Minh Hoan, MENAS Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the Mekong Institute of Science & Technology Application and Training (MEFAST) officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to develop an agricultural cultural ecosystem, and to promote and facilitate trade for Vietnamese agricultural products.

Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Quý, Chief Operating Officer of MENAS, and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thúy Phượng, Director of MEFAST, with the Memorandum of Understanding signed on the afternoon of February 6.

MEFAST – A Pioneer in Applying Science and Technology to Agriculture

MEFAST is a science and technology organization headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, operating in the fields of research, application, and technology transfer in agriculture, as well as cultural and tourism development. With the mission of enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, MEFAST has implemented numerous projects connecting research and technology transfer across many localities such as Bến Tre, Đồng Tháp, Trà Vinh, Quảng Ninh, Hải Dương, and Hanoi.

Focus on Geographical Indication Products

A key highlight of this cooperation is a series of activities centered on agricultural products with geographical indications nationwide, contributing to sustainable agricultural development and the building of modern rural communities. Farmers play a central role in this value chain, contributing significantly to rural economic growth.

The first event is expected to be held at Mena Gourmet Market Saigon Airport, showcasing signature products from Bến Tre Province, which has eight products granted geographical indication status, including Cai Mon durian, green-skinned pomelo, mud crab, giant freshwater prawn, rambutan, Tu Quy mango, rice, and clams.

Shared Vision and Added Value

MENAS and MEFAST share a common vision that goes beyond the mere commercialization of agricultural products. The partnership aims to integrate added value, promote local images and culture, and enhance customer experiences through culinary arts and agricultural tourism. The direct participation of community associations, cooperatives, and farmer production groups is a key factor, ensuring that each product not only meets quality standards but also conveys a distinctive cultural story.

MEFAST Brings Technology and High-Quality Products

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thúy Phượng, Director of MEFAST, stated:
“MEFAST is committed to supplying the Mena Gourmet Market supermarket system with high-quality fresh and processed agricultural products that meet standards in quantity, variety, and food safety. We will also support MENAS in market research, new product development, and connecting with localities and OCOP stakeholders.”

MEFAST will supply high-quality fresh and processed agricultural products to the Mena Gourmet Market system, meeting strict requirements for quantity, variety, and food safety. Notably, MEFAST-supported products will also be used at The Fan and Yum Food Village, delivering premium culinary experiences to customers.

Strategic Cooperation to Elevate Vietnamese Agricultural Products

Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Quý, Chief Operating Officer of MENAS Vietnam, shared:
“With its capabilities, MENAS believes it will work effectively with MEFAST to co-organize events and seminars on organic agricultural production chains, trade connections, technology transfer training, and e-commerce development.”

Mr. Quý expressed confidence that this cooperation will help Vietnamese agricultural products access the Ho Chi Minh City market and expand into modern distribution channels, while building strong brands for regional specialties and enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

“We will promote the application of technology in e-commerce, support producers in accessing online sales channels, and create new opportunities for sustainable development—strengthening connections between producers, distributors, and consumers,” Mr. Quý added.
